In a significant development, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) successfully collaborated with the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) to recover a stolen vehicle belonging to the Commission’s Secretary. Another key player in the recovery, Onyebuchi Matthew, an INTERPOL representative, conveyed that initial communication regarding the theft commenced nearly a year ago, leading to the vehicle’s identification in Ghana. He emphasized the impressive cooperation between INTERPOL and NiDCOM, which facilitated the successful recovery. Additionally, he addressed a crucial point regarding timely reporting of stolen vehicles, noting that many issues arise when such incidents are not promptly reported. He asserted, “It’s crucial to report stolen vehicles to INTERPOL immediately, so they can be registered in our database,” which aids in preventing unintended purchases of stolen vehicles by unsuspecting buyers. Akinsola Akinboye, who was instrumental in the car’s recovery, expressed appreciation for the trust extended to him by Mrs. Dabiri-Erewa and the security agencies involved.
