On Friday, Musgraves took to her Instagram stories to share the unfortunate news, revealing that she broke one of her ribs during the incident. The mishap occurred on Wednesday when she slipped on slick tiles while running to grab towels amid rainy weather.

“It was raining and I was running to grab some towels and had an extremely hard fall on some very slick tile I didn’t see,” Musgraves explained in an Instagram post that included an x-ray of her injured rib. She expressed gratitude, noting, “Thankful I didn’t smack my head, but I landed very, very hard on my back left ribcage and I broke rib number six.”

The singer, best known for her hit song “Follow Your Arrow,” continued with a candid account of her pain, stating, “This s—t is no joke. I am in a lot of pain and doing ANYTHING is extremely difficult but I’m managing and being well taken care of.” She accompanied her message with another image, showing the x-ray along with the word “pain” highlighted.

Apologizing to her fans, Musgraves announced that she would have to reschedule her upcoming Sing for Science performance scheduled for Sunday. “There is no physical way I can get on a plane and fly back to Nashville,” she lamented.

Expressing her disappointment, she said, “I am extremely bummed to have to reschedule as I have been looking forward to this for months but there is literally no other option. I’m so sorry for the inconvenience.” Fans were directed to the Ryman Auditorium’s website for information about the new date, September 18.
