Niger State Police Arrest Burglars and Sheep Thief in Recent Operations

The men, 43-year-old Musa Audu and 45-year-old Abdullahi Garba, were caught in the act of robbing a residence when vigilant neighbors sounded the alarm. The incident occurred in the Brighter Area of Minna on April 30, 2025, where the suspects gained entry by peeling away a window. They loaded a plasma television, remote, and a couple of aluminum pots into sacks before neighbors contacted law enforcement. The police responded promptly, leading to the duo’s detention.
Wasiu Abiodun, the police spokesperson, confirmed the incident, explaining that the police were not present at the time of the break-in. “On April 30th, 2025 at about 11:45 AM, police operatives arrested Musa Audu and Abdullahi Garba, both from Kwangila area,” stated Abiodun, who provided details about the stolen items and the swift local response that aided in the arrest.
He further noted that the suspects are currently under investigation at the Chanchaga Division. Abiodun affirms that they will soon face prosecution in court. “The items were concealed in sack bags, but the suspects were later arrested through the help of the community members,” he elaborated, emphasizing the importance of public vigilance.
In a separate incident, police arrested another resident, Danrani Usman, 32, from Gengi village, who allegedly stole 50 sheep. Usman identified an accomplice named Isah, who remains at large, claiming both men had stolen the animals from Yangalu village in Magama LGA.
“The arrest of Usman occurred on April 27, 2025, when police operatives collaborated with vigilante members in Kontagora,” Abiodun explained. Usman confessed to the crime under interrogation, shedding light on the ongoing issue of cattle rustling in the region.
