Extradition of Fugitive ‘Killaboi’ After Two-Year Manhunt for Murder Charge

Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, known as ‘Killaboi’, has been extradited from Qatar after a two-year pursuit for the murder of his girlfriend, Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe. His arrest followed extensive international cooperation and was influenced by a petition from the victim’s family. The Inspector-General of Police emphasized the continued effort to ensure justice in this case.
In a significant development, the Nigeria Police Force confirmed the extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, known as “Killaboi,” who has been on the run for nearly two years. He is sought in connection with the murder of his girlfriend, Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, and was apprehended in Doha, Qatar, on April 19, 2025. Miss Onuwabhagbe, a first-class student from Lead City University, Ibadan, was allegedly killed at the suspect’s residence on July 13, 2023.
The extradition was announced by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, highlighting the collaborative efforts of the Nigeria Police, INTERPOL National Central Bureau in Abuja, the Federal Ministry of Justice, and Qatari authorities. This international investigation was initiated following a petition from the deceased’s family dated September 29, 2024, urging action from the authorities.
Following the alleged crime, Killaboi fled Nigeria, subsequently releasing a misleading video online to undermine the investigation. He was declared wanted by the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department on October 13, 2023, and an INTERPOL Red Notice was issued for his arrest. Killaboi was initially arrested in Sierra Leone under a false identity but escaped custody during a prison break.
His attempts to evade capture involved traveling through various regions, including West Africa and the Middle East, while using multiple forged identities. He settled in Doha under the alias “Toure Abdoulaye” after obtaining employment with a fraudulent Guinean passport.
The identification of Killaboi was confirmed through advanced biometric techniques and cooperation between INTERPOL agencies. His arrest in Qatar occurred in February 2025, leading to a formal extradition request from the Federal Ministry of Justice, which was subsequently approved by Qatari authorities.
Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, acknowledged the efforts of INTERPOL NCB Abuja and expressed gratitude to the Qatari authorities and the Nigerian Embassy for their assistance in the extradition process. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police to ensure justice and the safety of Nigerian citizens.
In summary, Killaboi’s extradition marks a critical step in addressing the murder case of Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe. The successful collaboration between Nigerian and Qatari authorities showcases the effectiveness of international cooperation in law enforcement. Inspector-General Egbetokun’s affirmation of the Police’s dedication to justice underscores their commitment to public safety and security in Nigeria.
