Tata.ev Launches Electric Vehicle Lineup in Mauritius

Tata.ev has launched its electric vehicle lineup, including Tiago.ev, Punch.ev, and Nexon.ev, in Mauritius, marking the first international expansion beyond the SAARC region. The Punch EV offers battery options with ranges up to 365 km, while Nexon EV features a 45 kWh battery and a range of 350-375 km. All models include comprehensive warranties and free home charging units, highlighting Tata’s commitment to sustainable mobility.

Tata.ev has officially launched its electric vehicle (EV) models in Mauritius, comprising the Tiago.ev, Punch.ev, and Nexon.ev. This collaboration with Allied Motors signifies Mauritius as the inaugural country outside the SAARC region to receive Tata’s EV lineup. Previously, Tata had introduced vehicles, both internal combustion engine (ICE) and EVs, in Sri Lanka.

The Tata Punch EV is available in three variants: Smart, Adventure, and Empowered, alongside various sub-variants. It offers battery options of 25 kWh and 35 kWh, delivering ranges of 265 km and 365 km respectively. Notably, the Punch EV earned a 5-star safety rating under Bharat NCAP crash tests.

The Tata Nexon EV has transitioned to a new 45 kWh battery, phasing out the 40 kWh model. This vehicle can recharge to 80 percent in under an hour and has a range of 350-375 km. The Tiago EV, a compact hatchback, features an updated 24 kWh battery with an estimated range of 190-210 km.

All three vehicles come with extensive warranties: 8 years or 160,000 km for the battery and motor, and 7 years or 150,000 km for the vehicles. Additionally, customers receive a complimentary 7.2 kW home charging wall box to enhance their EV experience.

Yash Khandelwal, Head of International Business at Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., expressed enthusiasm about this expansion in Mauritius. He stated, “We are thrilled to introduce our electric vehicle portfolio in Mauritius, marking our first international expansion beyond the SAARC region.” He emphasized the importance of Mauritius in Tata’s EV journey, highlighting the government’s commitment to sustainable mobility.

Khandelwal further remarked, “As a pioneer of the EV revolution in India and a proven success in SAARC markets, Tata.ev is well-positioned to support the country’s transition to electric mobility.” He articulated that the diverse range of EVs, paired with an exceptional ownership experience and partnership with Allied Motors, lays the groundwork for a significant transformation in Mauritius’ automotive market.
