Liberia and China Formalize Technical Cooperation Agreement

The Government of Liberia and the People’s Republic of China have signed a technical bilateral cooperation agreement, formalized on March 28, 2025. This agreement aims to enhance collaboration across various sectors and is focused on promoting peace, stability, prosperity, and development within Liberia through agreed projects.

During the signing event, Ambassador Yin Chengwu of the People’s Republic of China expressed contentment with the agreement, highlighting its role in fortifying bilateral relations. He emphasized that the agreement is structured to facilitate project implementations following amicable consultations and aligns with sustainable development goals, supporting a prosperous future for Liberia.

Ambassador Yin noted that the principles of equality, mutual respect, and win-win cooperation feature prominently in the agreement, consistent with commitments made at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit, endorsed by President Xi Jinping. Furthermore, it aligns with Liberia’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development led by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr.

H.E. Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, voiced gratitude on behalf of President Boakai and the Liberian populace, emphasizing the potential of the agreement to fortify existing ties and contribute significantly to Liberia’s economic advancement. She acknowledged the agreement as both timely and pivotal, reaffirming Liberia’s dedication to cooperating with China.

Foreign Minister Nyanti stated, “This agreement will be fully utilized for its intended purpose, benefiting the government and people of Liberia.” She further assured China of Liberia’s ongoing support for the One China policy and lauded the cooperation’s positive outcomes thus far, committing to enhance ties moving forward.

The foreign minister remarked, “This signing ceremony today marks a significant milestone in our bilateral cooperation.” She expressed deep appreciation for existing projects supported by China in Liberia and looked ahead to further collaboration aimed at achieving shared developmental objectives.
