Family of Kidnapped Retired Director Appeals for Police Intervention

The family of Emmanuel Ofobrukueta, a retired director kidnapped in Delta, requests the intervention of Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun for his immediate rescue. Legal representative Frank Tietie disclosed that despite paying a ransom and police efforts, Ofobrukueta remains missing, leading to family concerns over potential complicity by associates.
The family of Emmanuel Ofobrukueta, a retired director from Delta, is appealing to Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his urgent assistance in securing his immediate rescue from kidnappers. During a press conference in Abuja, Frank Tietie, the family’s solicitor from Forthright Chambers, revealed that Ofobrukueta was abducted on January 13 while leaving his home in Mosogar, Delta State, just hours before he was due to process his pension claims.
Tietie emphasized that the victim has been in captivity for nearly two months, despite the ongoing rescue efforts by the Delta State Police Command. The family, undergoing immense distress, initially attempted self-initiated rescue strategies, including hiring a private tracking firm.
Following the kidnapping, a ransom of N4,020,000 was paid to the abductors through intermediaries; however, there has been no communication from either the kidnappers or Ofobrukueta since. Suspicions have arisen among the family regarding the involvement of certain close associates in the abduction.
Despite dwindling hope, the legal representatives for Ofobrukueta’s family expressed confidence in the Nigerian Police’s capability to resolve the matter. Tietie advocated for the IGP’s direct involvement, asserting that the police have both the resources and personnel necessary to facilitate the victim’s rescue. He asserted that accountability for Ofobrukueta is a fundamental responsibility of the government.
Furthermore, Tietie called on the Delta State government to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure Ofobrukueta’s safe return, reinforcing the need for support for the victim’s family during this trying period. He also urged the police and relevant authorities to prioritize efforts for the rescue of all individuals presently held in kidnappers’ custody.
In summary, the family of Emmanuel Ofobrukueta, a retired director who was kidnapped in Delta State, is seeking immediate intervention from Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun to ensure his safe return. Despite the payment of ransom and ongoing police efforts, there has been no progress in the case, leading to suspicions of possible complicity by known associates. Tietie stresses the importance of government accountability in ensuring the safety of Nigerian citizens.
