Evaluation of LSS Retort Pouch Main Meals from Jordan at IDEX Expo

Loyalty Support Services (LSS) from Jordan showcased their retort pouch main meals at IDEX in Abu Dhabi. These Halal-certified meals offer a variety of Middle Eastern dishes, including Mandi Rice and Kufta Meat options. With convenient preparation and appealing flavors, they cater to both humanitarian and personal consumption needs.
During the recent IDEX expo in Abu Dhabi, Loyalty Support Services (LSS) from Jordan showcased several of their retort pouch main meals, which serve as alternatives to traditional meal trays. Previously, samples were unavailable, but attendees could take home meals including LSS Kufta Meat With Tahini, a dish I had only tried in a self-heating format. These meals cater to both Middle Eastern and international tastes and are Halal-certified where necessary, making them apt for humanitarian rations in Muslim-majority regions.
The LSS main meal pouches weigh 250 grams and provide between 320 to 450 kilocalories, depending on the specific meal. Flavors include Mandi Rice With Chicken, Freekeh With Chicken, and Kabseh Rice With Chicken, while additional options include Machbous, Madhbi, and Qidreh varieties. LSS also offers dishes featuring lamb, veal, fish, and various vegetarian selections like pasta and bean dishes.
For this review, I prepared the Mandi Rice With Chicken pouch by simmering it in hot water for eight minutes and serving it in a Wildo CAMP-A-BOX bowl. This Yemeni dish, traditionally slow-cooked, presented a rich flavor profile. The Kufta Meat With Tahini tray meal, which I heated, consisted of veal Kofta and boiled potatoes, and weighed 200 grams with a caloric value of 590. Usually paired with flatbread, it was a satisfying meal.
Looking ahead, I do not have any travel planned to the Middle East until the end of the year. However, I am reserving the Freekeh and Kabseh pouch meals as special treats until a possible assignment in Jordan this summer.
The LSS retort pouches from Jordan present a flavorful and convenient meal option that appeals to Middle Eastern culinary preferences. With Halal certifications, these meals are appropriate for diverse dietary needs in humanitarian contexts. Their variety and ease of preparation make them an appealing choice for those seeking quality prepackaged meals. Maintaining a connection to the flavors of the region, these offerings are poised to satisfy both local and international consumers.
