Man Allegedly Murders Wife in Chipinge, Burns Belongings in Cover-Up

A Chipinge man has been accused of murdering his wife in a maize field following allegations of infidelity. He then attempted to cover up the crime by burning her belongings near her body, which was discovered days later. The suspect has been arrested and is facing murder charges in court.

In a tragic event that occurred in Chipinge, a man allegedly murdered his wife in a maize field on 25 February. The suspect had been away from their home for 18 days and confronted his wife at a local car wash, accusing her of infidelity. This accusation led to a violent confrontation that escalated as they returned home, where he assaulted her persistently despite their landlord’s attempts to intervene.

The violence culminated in the maize fields, where the accused reportedly continued to assault his wife until she succumbed to her injuries. To cover his crime, he obscured her body with a blanket and cloth, then returned home to burn some of her belongings near the scene. Sadly, the corpse was discovered on 1 March 2025, by a local resident tending to her maize fields.

Law enforcement apprehended the suspect on 12 March at Holland Business Centre in Chipinge. He was subsequently arraigned and remanded in custody on a murder charge, with his next court appearance scheduled for 28 March.

This case underscores the grave issue of domestic violence and its devastating consequences.
