Cold nights with temperatures dropping to 5°C are expected, whereas daytime temperatures may reach up to 35°C in other regions.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a warning to citizens regarding anticipated moderate to heavy rainfall across the country, particularly from Friday, March 14, to Tuesday, March 17. The advisory, released on Thursday, March 13, specifically highlighted the Highland East counties, including Nyandarua, Laikipia, and Nairobi, which will see moderate rains in the initial two days followed by heavy rains for the duration of the forecast.

In addition to the Highland East counties, the Highland West and Lake Victoria basin areas, such as Siaya and Kisumu, are also expected to experience heavy downpours beginning Saturday, March 15. Other counties facing similar weather conditions include Nandi, Nakuru, and Kericho, among others, suggesting a widespread impact across the region.

Residents in Southeastern counties, including Kitui and Taita Taveta, have been urged to prepare for heavy rains starting Saturday afternoon. This precipitation is expected to extend over three days, with a decrease anticipated by Tuesday, March 17. Coastal areas including Mombasa and Kilifi will likely experience smaller amounts of rainfall during this period.

As the rainy season begins, the meteorological department has advised those in Highland East counties to anticipate very cold nighttime temperatures, specifically dropping to 5°C for five consecutive nights starting Friday, March 14. Conversely, several counties are forecasted to experience daytime temperatures soaring up to 35°C, including Siaya and Bomet.
