A Minnesota college senior, Joshua Riibe, is regarded as a “person of interest” in the case of Sudiksha Konanki, a 20-year-old woman who has been missing in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, since March 6. Authorities believe he may have been the last individual to have seen her. Notably, law enforcement has clarified that Riibe is not currently considered a suspect despite his involvement in the investigation.

Riibe, 22, is a St. Cloud State University student who enrolled in 2023 and hails from Rock Rapids, Iowa. He is studying land surveying and mapping sciences. In response to inquiries, law enforcement emphasizes Riibe’s status as a person of interest is for investigative purposes, and they will not disclose further details regarding the timing or circumstances surrounding the incident.

The investigation has prompted Dominican police to re-interview witnesses who were with Konanki prior to her disappearance. The FBI is assisting with the ongoing inquiry. A representative from the hotel where the incident occurred mentioned that the disappearance coincided with a power outage, leading guests to congregate on the beach.

Sudiksha Konanki’s parents have arrived in Punta Cana after learning of their daughter’s disappearance. They have requested that authorities expand the scope of the investigation. Konanki traveled to the Dominican Republic with five other university students on March 3, and her family is experiencing significant distress during this challenging time, as expressed by her aunt, Theresa Riibe.
