Kyrgyzstan and five other countries condemned Nazi glorification at the UN Human Rights Council. They emphasized the unacceptability of such actions, reaffirming the Nuremberg Tribunal’s verdicts on Nazi war crimes. Additionally, they denounced any equalization of culpability between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany, underscoring the moral duty to remember the sacrifices made to defeat Nazism.

Kyrgyzstan, along with Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, jointly condemned the glorification of Nazis during the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council held in Geneva. This condemnation coincides with the upcoming 80th anniversary of the conclusion of World War II, the most catastrophic conflict in history.

The statement, delivered by the Russian delegation’s representative, Evgeny Ustinov, emphasized that any efforts to glorify Nazis and their collaborators are completely unacceptable. He reiterated that the major Nazi war criminals, responsible for instigating and conducting World War II, were deemed criminal by the International Military Tribunal in Nuremberg, which validated the atrocities committed against civilians by the Nazis and their allies as acts of genocide against the Soviet populace.

Furthermore, the countries denounced any comparisons that equate the Soviet Union’s role with that of Nazi Germany in initiating World War II, labeling such comparisons as “immoral and blasphemous.” They highlighted the importance of honoring the memory of the countless individuals who sacrificed their lives to rid the world of Nazism’s malevolence.

The joint statement asserted a commitment to uphold the historical truth concerning the collective victory over Nazism, while also pledging to combat the resurgence of hatred and discrimination based on ethnicity, race, or religion, and to oppose any inhumane actions.

The joint statement from Kyrgyzstan and five other countries serves as a powerful reminder of the historical significance of World War II and the urgent need to remember its lessons. By denouncing Nazi glorification and reinforcing the sanctity of the collective victory over hatred and tyranny, these nations emphasize their commitment to preventing the resurgence of such ideologies in the future.
