Prior to the Cayman Islands earthquake, a 3.4-magnitude earthquake was documented in Petrolia, California on February 7, centered at a depth of 10 kilometers. This followed a 2.9-magnitude earthquake in the same area just one day earlier. On February 5, a 4.3-magnitude earthquake in Alaska was also recorded, centered in Sustina at a depth of 5.4 kilometers.
