Police in Niger State have successfully recovered a stolen truck that was transporting an impressive load of 900 bags of cement. Details of the Theft Emerge
The spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, revealed that the stolen truck was en route from Okpella in Edo State to deliver the cement to a customer in Gwagwalada, Abuja. The drama unfolded on June 21 when the truck, equipped with registration number HJA 995 XA, mysteriously went missing. The driver left the truck parked by the roadside to grab a bite to eat and when he returned, his vehicle had vanished without a trace, prompting a swift report to authorities.
Investigations Into Suspects Underway
Following the report, the DPO of Gawu-Babangida mobilized his patrol team and commenced a search for the missing truck. To their relief, the vehicle was located on Lambata-Lapai Road and was intact with all 900 bags of cement unharmed. The three suspects arrested were Bashir Isah, 22; Ibrahim Yusuf, 21; and Halidu Mohammed, 28, all from Gbamita area of Lambata. Upon interrogation, they confessed they intended to sell the stolen cement, highlighting a concerning trend in criminal activities involving hard-to-trace goods.
