He began his education at Kitebi Primary School and later, he completed his Ordinary Level studies at Makindye Secondary School. However, it was his passion for music that ultimately drove him into the industry, initially inspired by Ugandan music star Jose Chameleone.
Grenade’s determination took him on an arduous journey. After walking from Lyantonde to Kyazanga to see Chameleone perform, he sought payment for rabbits he had delivered but was disappointed when the artist left without settling the debt. Refusing to give up, he made his way to Kampala, catching a ride on a truck carrying music equipment. Once in the city, he briefly worked in an equipment shop in Katwe before feeling an urge to find Chameleone once more.
His relentless pursuit led his friend and him to Seguku. Unfortunately, they were again unsuccessful in meeting Chameleone. To make ends meet, Grenade took on various odd jobs, including selling scrap, all while nurturing his passion for music. During this challenging time, he encountered a producer named Mavo in Kamwokya, becoming his first mentor and recording his music under the name Moz Dem.
