Alleged B.C. Drug Trafficker Arrested in Oman After Three-Year Manhunt

Casey, age 38, was initially charged on October 8, 2021, stemming from incidents that occurred on July 27, 2020. The charges include serious allegations of possession for the purpose of trafficking several controlled substances such as fentanyl, methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, and ketamine. Additionally, he faces firearm-related charges involving multiple weapons, including a semi-automatic rifle and a shotgun.
After his initial charges, Casey was released on a $200,000 bail by Judge John Milne under specific conditions — including surrendering his passport. Furthermore, he was fitted with an electronic monitoring bracelet. However, during the preparation for his trial in April 2022, he unlawfully removed the bracelet and went into hiding.
In June 2023, the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) publicly requested assistance in locating Casey. According to Inspector Phil Heard, the head of the organized crime unit, Casey left Canada prior to a scheduled court appearance. “However, we believe there are people in Metro Vancouver who have knowledge of his current whereabouts,” he stated.
The investigation that led to these charges began back in February 2020, following the execution of a search warrant at a condo on Seymour Street. This operation uncovered a drug lab where over four kilograms of fentanyl were reportedly combined with other substances. The subsequent police raids on July 27, 2020, resulted in the seizure of more than 20 kilograms of fentanyl, nearly 10 kilograms of methamphetamine, multiple firearms, and substantial cash — totaling around $5 million in illegal drugs.
