Witness Kaito Karisia stated that the movie director, who had provided the food and drinks, went to bed early, leaving four actors and three accompanying ladies at the party. He awoke in the early hours of Friday to find two actors deceased while the others struggled for breath. Two male actors remain hospitalized and are reportedly responding to treatment.

Karisia relayed a survivor’s account on social media, explaining, “Their host (the movie director) offered them rice, and everyone ate. He later brought out a bottle of Calypso and wine. They only took a sip and did not drink further. However, the two other guys who are now dead finished the drink.”

In a statement, Police Command spokesperson DSP Henry Okoye confirmed that investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths. He characterized the incident as “unfortunate and tragic,” noting the ongoing treatment of the surviving actors.

Commissioner of Police for Imo State, Aboki Danjuma, has directed for a pathologist to conduct autopsies on the deceased, which will aid in uncovering the cause of death and provide further clarity on the issue.
