A rainstorm in Akatsi South, Volta Region, has left many residents homeless, destroying homes and businesses. The community is appealing for urgent support, while local leaders call for government intervention.

A severe rainstorm has caused significant destruction in Akatsi South, Volta Region, leaving numerous residents homeless. Many locals described the incident, which occurred on Sunday, March 30, 2025, as “strange and dangerous,” as it resulted in the destruction of properties including houses, shops, and electric poles.

During a subsequent tour by the Ghana News Agency (GNA), it was observed that numerous structures had either collapsed or were severely damaged. The storm commenced around 6:00 PM and also uprooted large trees and destroyed billboards, resulting in injuries to some individuals.

Frustrated residents shared their plight with the GNA, expressing their desperation for assistance. They urgently requested essential materials such as roofing sheets and iron rods for rebuilding their homes and shops.

Mr. Daniel Dagba, the Municipal Chief Executive nominee for Akatsi South, has echoed the community’s calls for government support for those affected. He has reassured residents of forthcoming interventions, particularly from the local Member of Parliament.

The rainstorm in Akatsi South has had devastating effects, leaving many homeless and in urgent need of assistance. Residents are actively seeking support to rebuild their lives, highlighting the immediate need for government intervention.
