Rainy weather is expected to persist in various regions of Saudi Arabia until the upcoming Eid Al Fitr celebration. The Eid holiday is anticipated to commence on March 29, following the conclusion of Ramadan, the holy month observed by Muslims.
Meteorologist Aqeel Al Aqeel from the Saudi National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) has confirmed that the current rainy conditions, originating at the beginning of Ramadan, are forecasted to remain through Eid. Moderate to heavy rainfall is anticipated, particularly in the central and eastern highlands, as well as the Mecca area.
The NCM has issued warnings regarding thunderstorms, hail, and reduced visibility due to winds across seven regions, starting from Sunday. These storms are expected to impact the Eastern Province, Riyadh, Najran, Jizan, Asir, Al Baha, and Mecca.
In addition to rain, active winds may lead to sandstorms in Al Qassim, Medina, and coastal regions of Tabuk. Recent footage revealed that, despite heavy rains, pilgrims continued their rituals at the Grand Mosque in Mecca. Additionally, the prior week, Jeddah experienced significant rainfall that caused flooding, with flash floods reported northeast of the city.
In summary, Saudi Arabia is experiencing prolonged rainy weather expected to last until Eid Al Fitr, beginning on March 29. The Saudi National Centre for Meteorology predicts moderate to heavy rains, thunderstorms, and potential sandstorms in various regions of the kingdom, particularly Mecca. Despite adverse weather, pilgrims have continued their activities at religious sites.
