In Saudi Arabia, civil defense teams rescued three individuals from a vehicle that was submerged in floodwaters, although one person was unfortunately found deceased later. The incident occurred in the Tanomah governorate, where torrential rains led to severe flooding. The survivors reported to be in good health were part of a group traveling in a GMC when they became trapped.

Rescue efforts were conducted extensively, leading to the discovery of the deceased individual’s body at the Wadi Tarj Dam in Tanuma. Following these events, the Saudi National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) has issued warnings regarding thunderstorms affecting multiple regions across the kingdom until Sunday, with the Mecca region anticipated to receive significant rainfall.

The NCM forecasts moderate-to-heavy rains that could lead to further flooding, combined with hail and strong winds, impacting Medina, Mecca, Al Baha, Asir, Jizan, Najran, Al Qassim, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province. Taif, in Mecca, is projected to experience heavy rainfall on Thursday and Friday, while moderate-to-heavy rains are expected in Medina and the Eastern Province, especially peaking from Friday to Saturday.

The recent flooding in Saudi Arabia has resulted in tragic fatalities despite rescue efforts. Ongoing severe weather, characterized by thunderstorms and heavy rains, poses further risks of flooding across various regions. Residents are advised to stay informed and prepared as the Saudi National Centre for Meteorology continues to monitor the situation closely.
