Revolt Motors Expands Electric Motorcycle Exports to Nepal

Revolt Motors is expanding into Nepal, following its entry into Sri Lanka. The company aims to export electric motorcycles to various international markets, including Africa and Mexico. In 2024, Nepal’s two-wheeler sales totaled around 170,000 units, with electric vehicles currently holding a penetration rate of less than 4 percent. Revolt plans to open showrooms and service networks in the country, targeting significant growth in the electric motorcycle segment.

Revolt Motors, having entered the Sri Lankan market last year, is now expanding its reach by exporting electric motorcycles to Nepal. The company plans to enter three additional markets in Africa, South-East Asia, and West Asia within the upcoming financial year, according to Anjali Rattan, Chairperson of RattanIndia Enterprises, the promoter of Revolt Motors. Moreover, Revolt intends to export to Mexico and set up assembly plants in Africa and Mexico at a later stage.

In 2024, Nepal saw sales of approximately 170,000 two-wheelers, yet the penetration of electric vehicles remains below 4 percent. Scooters account for 37 percent of total sales, with Indian original equipment manufacturers comprising nearly 45 percent of the scooter market share. Rattan emphasized that Indian products are greatly preferred in Nepal compared to offerings from any other country.

Revolt will export its full product lineup, including the RV400, RV400 BRZ, RV1, RV1+, and RV BlazeX, supported by an extensive after-sales service network. The company has partnered with the MV Dugar Group and plans to launch its flagship Revolt Hub in Kathmandu in April, with 15 additional showrooms anticipated in major cities over the subsequent three to four months.

Rattan stated, “Nepal is a key strategic market, given its strong push for clean energy and growing demand for sustainable mobility. Its unique topography, where motorcycles are a preferred mode of transport, presents an exciting opportunity to introduce our smart, efficient electric motorcycles.”

The company aims for an annual import volume of 500 units in Nepal, with the first shipment scheduled for this week. Regarding a dedicated manufacturing facility, Rattan indicated that the current plant in Manesar, Haryana, has a production capacity of around 180,000 units annually, which suffices given the current output of 35,000 units per year. In February, Revolt sold 760 units domestically, marking a 58 percent increase compared to February of the previous year. Additionally, potential new facilities in South Indian states of Tamil Nadu or Karnataka are being considered for the next 18 months.

Apart from Revolt, other electric two-wheeler manufacturers, including Ather, Hero MotoCorp, TVS Motor, and Ultraviolet, also have ongoing exports to neighboring countries.
