A magistrate court in Minna, Niger State, has remanded Sabo Mohammed, a 70-year-old resident of Manigi village, due to allegations of stabbing Inspector Nasir Musa, a police prosecutor, to death. The court’s decision follows an incident on the 3rd of the previous month, wherein the accused allegedly attacked the inspector with a knife, suspecting him of having an inappropriate relationship with his junior wife.

During court proceedings, Police prosecutor Inspector Ogiri Emmanuel reported that the case details would be forwarded to the State Director of Public Prosecution for legal guidance. Presiding Magistrate Hajiya Hadiza Hamza Imam, after considering the serious nature of the offense, condemned the actions of the accused. She noted that the court does not have jurisdiction over culpable homicide cases and therefore will await legal advice from the Ministry of Justice. The judge adjourned the case to the fifteenth of next month for further mention and remanded the suspect accordingly.
