2,056 Athletes Compete in MTN Champs Season 3 in Benin

The MTN Champs Season 3, a prominent track and field event, has attracted approximately 2,056 competitors, commencing today in Benin. This announcement was made by Bambo Akani, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Making of Champions (MOC), during a press conference preceding the three-day competition.
MOC, in partnership with MTN, underscored the importance of the athletic championships in discovering and nurturing young talent. Akani reflected on the inaugural season, which was also held in Benin, where several emerging athletes were identified and have since secured full athletic scholarships in the United States.
Akani conveyed optimism about the potential of young participants to elevate Nigeria’s reputation in athletics both locally and internationally. Osaze Ebueku, MTN’s Senior Manager of Sponsorship and Go-To-Market (GTM), echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the company’s commitment to refining young athletes, comparing them to rough diamonds polished into future champions.
Ebueku expressed enthusiasm about returning to Benin in search of exceptional talents. Meanwhile, Amadin Enabulele, Chairman of the Edo Sports Commission, reiterated the current administration’s dedication to grassroots sports development. He confirmed that Governor Monday Okpebholo has approved the use of Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium and provided logistical support for a successful event in Edo State.
