On March 10, 2025, the Tropical Cyclone “Jude” made landfall on the eastern coast of Mozambique around 08:00 Beijing time, as reported by the World Meteorological Centre Beijing (WMC-BJ). The cyclone is projected to move westward at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour while experiencing a rapid decrease in intensity.
In the wake of “Jude”, Mozambique’s central and northern regions, along with southern Malawi, are set to encounter heavy to torrential rainfall, with some areas expected to exceed 300 mm in accumulation. It is anticipated that rainfall will range from 100 to 200 mm in these regions, contributing to severe weather conditions.
Wind gusts of 8 to 9 levels are projected for central and northern Mozambique, including coastal areas and the Mozambique Channel. Coastal winds where “Jude” travels may see gusts reaching between 10 to 12-grade, with some locations experiencing gusts as high as 13 to 14-grade.
