Investigation into Murder of Scotsman Campbell Scott Unfolds as Officials Seek Suspects

Campbell Scott, a Scottish man, was discovered dead last month after attending a conference in Nairobi. His body was found in a forest shortly after he went missing, leading to an investigation being classified as a murder case. Currently, two individuals have been apprehended, while authorities actively seek three others suspected in connection with the death.
The gang under investigation is also linked to a previous chilling incident involving the kidnapping and extortion of a pastor last year. In that case, Campbell Scott’s alleged assailants, Bernard Mbunga Mbusu, Samuel Musembi Kamitu, and Alphonse Munyao Kilewa, reportedly attacked a preacher in Nairobi. They stripped him of his clothing and threatened to defame him by publishing photos online unless he complied with their demands.
Last February, during the pastor’s ordeal, the gang extorted approximately 55,000 Kenyan shillings (around £330) from him. A representative from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) recounted that the trio ambushed the pastor, abducted him in a vehicle, and demanded his bank PIN under threat. Once the funds were transferred, he was released, and police later recovered both the money and the pastor’s mobile device.
The two suspects detained for the murder of Mr. Scott were recently ordered by a Kenyan court to remain in custody for an additional 21 days as investigations continue. Their initial court appearance took place on Monday in Mililani after their arrest.
Mr. Scott disappeared after attending a conference at the JW Marriot Hotel in Nairobi on February 16. His body was subsequently discovered in a sack of pineapples, approximately 66 miles southeast of Nairobi, with evidence of foul play evident.
The ongoing investigation into the murder of Campbell Scott has highlighted connections to prior criminal acts, including the kidnapping and extortion of a pastor by the same gang. With two suspects currently in custody and a manhunt for three others in place, law enforcement agencies are intensifying their efforts to bring all individuals involved to justice.
