Chinese Peacekeepers in South Sudan Conduct Free Medical Outreach

The 11th Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion and the 12th Chinese medical team conducted a successful free medical outreach in South Sudan, providing consultations and treating 423 patients while distributing essential medical supplies, earning recognition from local villagers.

Recently, the 11th Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion serving in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) partnered with the 12th batch of the Chinese medical team to conduct a free medical outreach for a local village.

The outreach provided villagers with various medical consultations in specialties such as internal medicine, surgery, dermatology, ophthalmology, and otorhinolaryngology. Additionally, services included routine physical examinations and disease diagnosis and treatment.

Chinese medical personnel educated the villagers on the prevention of prevalent diseases, including malaria, cholera, and monkeypox. On-site medical services encompassed blood pressure and blood sugar monitoring, malaria tests, wound care, and treatment for common ailments. A total of 423 patients received treatment, and 1,097 medical supplies were distributed, garnering high praise from the local population.

The initiative by the Chinese peacekeepers in South Sudan exemplifies a strong commitment to humanitarian efforts, enhancing local health outcomes through medical outreach.
