At noon, severe weather was developing across the Southeast with a squall line from Arkansas to Louisiana. Alabama is experiencing clearing conditions, but under a Wind Advisory with gusts expected. Residents are warned to prepare for possible tornadoes and damaging winds as storms approach this evening. Stay alert and secure outdoor items.

At noon today, a squall line has formed stretching from southern Arkansas to Central and Southwestern Louisiana. Severe thunderstorm warnings are in effect for areas including Monticello, AR, Monroe, LA, and Alexandria, LA, where a tornado was reported. Although the tornado has weakened, new warnings have been issued, particularly for Pollock to the north of Alexandria. Winds at Alexandria International Airport are reaching gusts of up to 45 mph from the south-southeast.

In Alabama, the weather is beginning to clear, with temperatures rising into the upper 60s and lower 70s, and dew points gradually increasing. Wind gusts are measuring 42 mph in Huntsville, 25 mph in Birmingham, and 35 mph in Greenville. Residents should be cautious due to the windy conditions as a significant weather system approaches the region.

A Wind Advisory is currently active in Alabama until Wednesday evening due to a strengthening low-pressure system. Winds have already started gusting between 30 and 40 mph outside of thunderstorms, with anticipated gusts potentially reaching 45 mph later today. These gusts pose risks of downed tree limbs and power lines, necessitating the securing of loose outdoor items.

The Storm Prediction Center is preparing to issue a tornado watch for southern Mississippi and much of southeastern Louisiana. The increased humidity is fostering instability in these areas, which may lead to embedded tornado formation within the storm system. Regions south of I-20 in Mississippi are expected to experience the highest instability, with strong kinematic conditions supportive of potential severe storms and tornadoes.

Alabama is experiencing conditions that warrant vigilant monitoring as winds increase and thunderstorms approach. With a Wind Advisory in place and a tornado watch awaiting confirmation, residents are urged to remain informed and prepared for the possibility of severe weather. It is crucial to secure outdoor possessions and have a weather response plan in place. Continuous communication through reliable sources will ensure safety during this weather event.
