GFA Member Questions Police on Suspect’s Escape in Pooley Murder Case

Frederick Acheampong, GFA Executive Council Member, criticized the Ghana Police for failing to capture Daniel Febiri, the prime suspect in Pooley’s murder, who escaped to Senegal. Acheampong expressed concern about the lack of proactive police action, especially regarding the suspect’s concealment by his girlfriend. Grace Siaw has since been arrested for her role in the matter as authorities escalate their investigation ahead of Pooley’s funeral on March 6, 2025.
Frederick Acheampong, an Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has voiced serious concerns regarding the Ghana Police Service’s handling of the investigation into the murder of Kotoko supporter Francis Yaw Frimpong, widely known as Pooley. He questioned how the main suspect, Daniel Febiri—commonly referred to as Braima—managed to escape to Senegal while evading capture by police. Acheampong expressed disappointment over law enforcement’s failure to apprehend Braima during the nearly two weeks he remained concealed at his girlfriend’s residence.
In an interview with Kessben FM, Mr. Acheampong urged police and investigative agencies to take a more proactive approach in dealing with suspects before they can flee. “Reports indicate that the girlfriend concealed the prime suspect between February 4 and 17, yet the police did not get a hint,” he stated. He emphasized the need for thorough investigation into how a prime suspect could remain hidden for an extended period without detection.
The situation surrounding Braima has escalated, as the Ghanaian football community has learned that he fled to Senegal with assistance from his girlfriend, Grace Siaw. Following the revelations, law enforcement has arrested Grace Siaw for questioning, as she is believed to have played a crucial role in facilitating Braima’s escape from authorities. Pooley’s funeral is slated for March 6, 2025, emphasizing the urgency for resolution of this case.
In summary, Frederick Acheampong has raised critical issues regarding the Ghana Police Service’s investigation into Pooley’s murder, specifically questioning how the prime suspect was able to evade capture for an extended time. The involvement of the suspect’s girlfriend in concealing his whereabouts has further complicated the investigation. With Pooley’s funeral approaching, there is a strong community call for swift action to resolve this alarming situation.
