73-Year-Old Dutch National Sentenced for Child Exploitation Crimes
A Dutch national, 73, has been sentenced to ten years in prison by the Milimani Children’s Court for ten counts of child-related offenses, including child pornography and sexual abuse. He was also fined Ksh3 million and will be deported after serving his sentence.
The Milimani Children’s Court has sentenced a 73-year-old Dutch national to ten years in prison. He was convicted on multiple serious charges including child pornography, sexual communication with minors, indecent acts with a child, and child abuse. The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) reported that the individual was found guilty of six counts of child pornography, two counts relating to sexual communication with minors, one count of indecent acts, and one count of child abuse.
Evidence presented in court revealed that the accused had intentionally exposed two minors, one aged 17 and another aged 16, to indecent materials and sexual communications via WhatsApp. Furthermore, he was found guilty of physically abusing the 17-year-old, and for encouraging another individual to engage in sexual acts with underage girls. The offenses occurred between April 2022 and November 2023.
In delivering the verdict, Hon. Alice Macharia emphasized the overwhelming evidence provided by the prosecution, particularly highlighting the testimony of a key witness who spoke from a place of profound hurt. The court concluded that all ten charges were proven beyond reasonable doubt. In addition to the prison sentence, the court has ordered that the suspect pay Ksh3 million in restitution to the victims and be deported upon completion of his sentence.
