Niger State police rescued 23 kidnapping victims recently. Nineteen victims were taken from a bus traveling from Sokoto to Bayelsa State. The victims were rescued in two phases after security teams pressured the kidnappers. Medical assistance was provided before the victims returned home. Additionally, four more individuals were kidnapped in a separate incident.

In a recent operation, police in Niger State successfully rescued 23 individuals who had been kidnapped. According to the state police spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, a total of 19 victims were passengers of a Toyota bus that was intercepted along the Tegina-Zungeru road while journeying from Sokoto State to Bayelsa State. Following the receipt of intelligence regarding the kidnappers’ location, a coordinated effort by a joint security tactical team was initiated, pressuring the abductors to abandon some captives in the Pangugari forest area, leading to their rescue on November 2, 2024, at approximately 6:42 AM. Later that evening, the remaining seven passengers were also freed unharmed, culminating in a total of 19 rescued victims who were subsequently provided medical attention before returning to Sokoto State the following day. Additionally, four more victims were reported abducted during another incident involving a separate vehicle traveling from Yawuri, Kebbi State, to Asaba, Delta State.
